A KiwiSaver first-home withdrawal lets you put most of your KiwiSaver savings towards buying your first home. You usually need to have been a member for at least three years, you must intend to live in the property, and you must leave at least $1,000 in your account. The money is paid to your lawyer’s trust account, not to you. If you have owned property before, Kāinga Ora can assess whether you are in the same financial position as a first home buyer, and you may still be able to withdraw.
